ABOUT BETTINA NORTON

Bettina Norton, raised in both Germany and California, began drawing Breyer horses at the age of six, spending hours perfecting anatomy from every angle. A small studio space—first in a bedroom, then traveling through college and grad school—eventually grew into a full studio where larger works could come to life.

Painting is a daily joy and a necessity, with each piece created to share that joy with others—whether it marks a special occasion or simply brings happiness. Much of the work is inspired by Frankie, a 14-year-old chestnut Rocky Mountain horse with a flaxen mane and tail, a longtime companion on trails and coastal rides.

Though her art sometimes features dogs, landscapes, or figures, horses remain the artist’s clearest form of expression. Mediums include charcoal, Sumi ink, gold leaf, and acrylic on canvas or paper.
