ABOUT JEREMY HARPER
Jeremy Harper is a California plein air painter whose work is deeply inspired by the landscapes of the American West. Raised just steps from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara, California, Jeremy developed a passion for drawing and painting at an early age, alongside a lifelong love of surfing and travel.
After studying at the San Francisco Art Institute, Jeremy expanded his artistic perspective through immersive experiences abroad, spending a summer in China followed by another exploring Europe and studying some of the world’s most celebrated works of art. He later remained in San Francisco to teach art at New Traditions Elementary School before returning to focus on his own painting practice.
Today, Jeremy captures the beauty of the places that have shaped his life—from the dramatic California coastline and the rolling hills of Santa Barbara to the mountain landscapes surrounding his family’s Montana cabin. His paintings celebrate the ever-changing light, color, and atmosphere found in nature, inviting viewers to experience the quiet beauty of the outdoors.
Jeremy is a member of SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment), the Santa Barbara Art Association, and Santa Barbara’s renowned Oak Group.
“Nature is like a visual symphony of colors, shapes, and rhythms all singing in harmony. As artists, we are simply making recordings of what we see. We simplify the complexities and offer viewers our own rendition of the natural world’s ongoing masterpiece.” — Jeremy Harper
